top of the hill there is a large traffic island guarding the right turn
to Birdlip village (B4070). Take this road and your see another right
turn signposted To the "Barrow Wake Viewpoint" (also signposted Shab
Hill).
Birdlip Viewpoint - near Cheltenham. Off themain A417 road from
Cheltenham/Gloucester to Cirencester near to the Cheltenham/Gloucester
end and by the "Air Balloon" pub - just follow the signs for Birdlip and
Stroud and the view point will be found on your right-hand side.
Coppers Hill- behind a lay-by on the main Brockworth to Stroud road (the
A46). Just past the turning for Coopers Hill and before Prinknash Abbey
and to the side of the road are two lay-bys.
Nympsfield - On the B4066 Approximately half way between Stroud and
Dursley is the Nympsfield Long Barrow picnic site and view point. Leave
the M5 at J13 and head along the A419 towards Stroud. As you reach
Stroud on the Stonehouse bypass, take the B4066. The road climbs steeply
through Kings Stanley, pass over sheep-strewn common land past a flying
club on the left. Continue along the B4066 The picnic site is on the
right.

semi-circle (facing uphill) is productive,
Dover St Margaret's Bay - St Margaret's is off the Dover-Deal road, on
the coast. Go through St Margaret's village turn right at top of hill

Dover, Western Heights - Follow tourist signs for The Grand Shaft. Car
park at top of Military Hill.
Maidstone - "Exit from J6 M20, head southwards towards Maidstone.At the

Wallasey, ignore the 1st 2 turn offs then next left (signposted
gun-site) and the car park is situated at the end of the lane. Wirrall
Eastham Country Park -Find the Eastham Ferry Hotel, which is on the rear
of Carlett Park College on the A41 through Wirrall, then there are woods
there, a country park Two main car parks with plenty of bushes around
both.
Formby, Formby Beach -Follow the signs for Formby and carry on to the
coast road. The road terminates at a small car park by a gap in the
dunes which gives access to the beach. Through the gap (the sand is hard
packed and will take vehicular traffic) turn left and follow the dunes
for about three hundred yards.
New Brighton, Wallasey on the Wirrall -This is a car park off Harrison
Drive about two hundred yards on the right after the second roundabout
driving away from the west end of Kings Parade drive down a rather poor
surfaced narrow access road but the car park is large and you have
access to the beach, dunes and a sort of picnic area. Most nights after
dark - best nights Friday & Saturday
New Brighton, Wirral Country Park -Still an excellent venue at weekends.

beginning of Barnsley district. Take the first left down a narrow
country lane. Car-park/picnic area is on the right a few hundred yards
before meeting the main road to Wakefield.

Belton - Located between Belton and Epworth near to Doncaster J2 M180

on the left hand side after you go over the railway bridge (signposted
Bishops Wood picnic area) and it is just off the main road and easy to

main A171 Teeside to Whitby Moors road it is signposted Gillik.

Hazelhead golf course Also try any parking areas along Greyhope Road out

Callander, Stirlingshire -15 miles NW of Stirling. Take the M9 from
Stirling heading north, then onto the A84. Once you reach Callander head
through the town centre As you are about to leave the town centre you

There are seven lay-bys ranging from 2 car to about 6 car spaces.
Cumbernauld -Palacerigg -Country Park, south-east of Cumbernauld. From
Cumbernauld town centre follow signs to South Carbrain and Airdrie then
follow signs to Palacerigg Country Park. When you reach the park gates,
turn back and take the first turn on your left into the lay-by.
Edinburgh, Gyle Centre -Take the M8 east to the Edinburgh City Bypass.
Turn left and it's on the right. From the south via the A1 (or any of
the trans-border routes) follow signs for the city by-pass as above and

turn (A244) and go towards Esher. After about two hundred yards there is
a small entrance on the left to a secluded car park.
Kingston area -Ham House car-park. Ham is between Richmond and Kingston.
Opposite Richmond Park and between the Ham Gate entrance to the park and
Petersham is a road called Sandy Lane. It ends in a 'T' junction. Turn
right and just keep going until you are in the car park.
Oxshott -The car park It is located about 100 yards on the right of the
A244 heading towards Esher, after the main roundabout with the A3
Oxted -Leave the M25 at J6 (signposted East Grinstead) and head
southwards at the first roundabout at the end of the dual carriageway -
turn left onto the A25 heading towards Oxted and Westerham. Proceed
through Oxted on the A25 and up over the top of a golf course. When you
start to descend, there is a signposted parking area on the left hand
side.
Richmond -Richmond itself is a lay-by on the A316 It's the car park
opposite the pools in the park complex on the A316 leading from Richmond
to Twickenham
Twickenham - Directions - (heading from Richmond) turn left off Heath
Road at Abbey National, onto 'Riverside' continue down to river, turn
left and park up.
Walton-on-Thames-Car park next to Walton Bridge, also down at the river

Turners Hill - From the village green take the road westwards towards
Pease Pottage and the A23/M23 to Brighton. At the T junction turn left
and take the next road on the right. The car park is at the top of the
small rise on the right hand side.
Vowells Lane car park - take the road from Turners Hill to Ardingly
about one mile from Turners Hill turn left to Sharpthorne. After 100
yards turn left again into Vowells Lane, car park about a mile on the
right.
